My Ranco temp controller shorted out (the white and black wires crossed and sparked inside the unit) and it suddenly started giving readings way too high. I rewired it and still have the same problem- my ice cube tray is not 92F.

Anyone know where I can source a new decent quality controller? Does not have to be Ranco. Best price I can find on a ETC-111000-000 is $56.95 (not pre-wired) + $6.70 shipping which isn't bad but some of you might have other recommendations.

Tim is selling his brand new unit. Do you not read the "for sale" section?

I did see that thread and was thinking it was taken but looks like not. Text sent.

MAKE YOUR OWN. CHECK IT OUT.

I ALSO SAW WHERE YOU CAN USE A USB TEMP SENSOR WITH A USB EXTENTION BUT YOU WOULD NEED AN OLD COMPUTER WITH LINUX TO OPERATE.

I've also seen some cheaper aquarium controllers getting wired up for freezer use. On eBay those were ~$20.

I think I saw it on the homebrewtalk.com forums.

Here's the thread:
